The 11th Annual Reunion - Thoresby Hall

After such a tremendous effort in organising this years reunion we received the very sad news that Richard Wardrobe and Ann Marie would not be able to join us it due to illness. However the very good news is that Ann Marie is well on the way to recovery and we look forward to seeing them both at next years reunion.

Those attending this year were :- Dave Beaumont, Bob Cuss, Barry Branigan,  Mike Dewes,  John Evans, Keith Fraser, Alan Gray Trevor Harvey and Grace, Russel Harvey, Rob Izatt, Malcolm Jones and Pam, Norrie Lowson, Jim McComisky, Alistair McCrindle, Brian Ogilvie, Geoff Plaxton and Chris, Bob Rock, Stu Simpson, Mike Stephens and Des Wilson.

Having had glorious weather both days most of the group took advantage of the facilities to try their hands at  Bowls, Cross Bow, Archery, shooting, golf, frisby golf and walks around the superb gardens. A number ventured to the nearby village whilst others just lazed in a deck chair on the beach area soaking up the sun.

The only incident this year came curtesy of Bob Cuss who managed to get the  shower running full bore only to soon realize he could not turn it off. With the room now looking like a sauna and fear of the smoke alarms going off, the patio doors were opened. This unfortunately gave the local squirrels begging for scraps of food on the patio a chance to get in and grab what food they could. You had to see it to believe it !!!

Brian Ogilvie once again successfully organised the Bowling and snooker tournaments and somehow ended up on the winning side of both. Team selection next year will be scrutinised very closely. Russel Harvey was our new attendee this year and he was given the warmest of welcomes by everyone. He joined in with the bowling taking to it like a seasoned player, I think he and Bob Rock may be looking for a club in the near future. It was surprising to find out that Russel was also stationed at Sharjah where few of us must have just missed him. Great news is he will be joining us again next year along with Barrie Hood and Ann who will be coming from Canada.

Des Wilson’s guided walking tour to the local village was such a hit that it has been penciled in for next year agenda. Plus there is also an interest in a round of golf at the near by club, if anyone is interested please contact Dave Beaumont. Bob Cuss or myself for details.

Bob Cuss will be organising the 2020 reunion giving Richard the time to look after Ann Marie, anyone wishing to join us please get in touch with him, myself or Dave Beaumont. Come on lads if you haven’t attended yet or have been and missed a couple of the last reunions, make the effort, we would love to meet up with you again.
